Only You - Chapter 1

Betrayal

Her heart was pumping fast and her head was throbbing. She clenched and unclenched her hands. She flexed her fingers, imagining them around Parker’s neck and squeezing them tightly. If she didn’t have to go to prison for murdering that cheating low-life, she would do just that!

Jenna was on her shopping expedition to buy a gift for a friend’s birthday when she spotted them having a little PDA in the middle of a shopping mall! They were so into each other that they did not even realise she was standing just a few feet away, mentally wringing their scrawny necks!

He cheated on her! To make things even harder to stomach, he cheated on her with HER GIRLFRIEND! Was she angry? No, she was not angry. Not at all. No. No. No. She was LIVID. That cheating, lying jerk and two-faced backstabber! Ugghhh!

Parker was her boyfriend. They had been going out for six months. He was successful, athletic – he went to the gym almost every day – good looking, charming and owned a shiny, delicious-looking, black ZO6 Chevrolet Corvette.

At 36, some of her friends had been saying that he’s a bit too old for her but he was only 36, not 70. She liked older men because most of them were more mature than guys her age. Furthermore, this guy looked like Henry Cavil.  Henry Cavil was a British actor and model who acted in the film Man of Steel. Now, that’s what she called a real man.

Sadly, honesty did not come hand in hand with maturity.

The girl Parker was with was her girlfriend, Miranda. Jenna and Miranda went to Uni together. Miranda was pretty and well-liked. A bit clingy but guys seemed to like that. They always went out partying together with other friends.

Yes, Jenna was a very social person. She loved being around people. She had many good friends but that day she just found out that Miranda was not one of them.

You know what? They deserved each other! No wonder when Jenna asked Parker to go out he would always finds excuses saying that he had to work, or his mother needed him, or he was going out with the guys! Yeah, right!

Jenna was just wandering around the mall, not quite knowing what to get for Katie for her 21 birthday, when she saw them. She was in such a shock that she could not move, with her eyes glued on them. She was rooted to the floor. She had never felt so betrayed, made worse by the fact that these two were the people that she trusted.

Humiliation crept in, and then came anger. What should she do? Should she walk up to them, confront them there in middle of the mall and give them well-deserved resounding slaps, while shouting profanities at them? Or should she walk away and plot their slow and painful demise in the comfort of her room, while eating a large tub of double chocolate ice-cream with a dash of mixed nuts on top?

Okay, she’d go with the second idea. It’s less humiliating.

Jenna would not let them see her. She would act natural – if that was even possible - around them, pretend that she didn’t know what was happening and all the while, plan their ultimate downfall. Ha! Definitely a good idea.

So, she turned around slowly, leaving the two in their own world unaware that their days on earth were numbered. Before leaving, she took some photos and video of them on her phone. As evidence, you know, just in case if they ever deny this and said she was just a jealous, raving lunatic.

Never had she felt so devious but, as they say, revenge was a dish best served cold!

Second Chance - Chapter 10

THE THIRD DEGREE

ZAYN...

“So you and Louis...” I could not finish my sentence. I ran my hand through my hair frustrated, I took a deep breath and exhaled in a rush.

“Yes, Zayn. Louis and I did have sex. If that is what you are trying to say.” Holly said bluntly.

Sitting motionless, I seemed to be lost for words and the frustrated look written all over my face told her that I wanted to do something really, really violent. To Louis, preferably.

“No, Zayn!” She warned me sharply and gave me a dirty look.

          “What?” I said innocently.

“You are not to rearrange his face, break his bones, throw him off a cliff or whatever it is you’re thinking of doing to him.” She looked me in the eyes trying to read the truth there.

“I was not thinking of any of those things.” I denied.

          “Yes, you were.”

          “No, I wasn’t.”

          “Yes, you were.”

“Okay, fine. I was but he totally deserved it.”

“Oh, come on, Zayn. It wasn’t as if he forced me to do anything. It was only my virginity. It wasn’t like I was going to do anything interesting with it. Besides, it was bound to happen sooner or later as hot as Louis is. It was my choice. I wanted it and I enjoyed it.” She smiled with satisfaction.

“Woah, babe! No! No! Way too much info. I really don’t need to hear that.” I cringed and covered both my ears with my hands. She just laughed aloud at my discomfort. I had heard much, much worse stories from the other lads but listening to Holly talking about ‘it’ made me blushed from the top of my perfectly quiff head to my little toe.

Suddenly, I felt really guilty. I was supposed to take care of her but I was too preoccupied with our performance and my own thing to really notice what was going on with her. Somehow I had put her at the back seat to my own agenda. If anyone was to blame, it would be me.

“I’m sorry, princess. I didn’t take a good care of you.” I apologised to her.

“What are you talking about?” She was a confused what I apologising for.

“You know,” I shrugged. “This thing with you and Louis..”

“Thing? You mean the fact that I lost my virginity to him?”

“Could you please, stop saying that.” I did not know why it bothered me so much to hear her talk about it.

“Get over it, Zayn. I lost it a long time ago. I am a big girl.” She stated.

“I know, I know. I just...I just feel that I should taken better care of you.” I was feeling upset.

“Like you taken care of Jason for me?” Holly raised her brows inquiringly. “What were you going to do? Have one of your ‘talk’ with Louis like you had with Jason?”

“You know about that? Did Jason tell you?”

“Yes, he did. He was worried about getting beaten up.”

“Well, he kept his hands to himself, didn’t he?”

“Even if he didn’t, I wasn’t interested in doing anything with Jason. That is why nothing happened between us. But I was very interested with Louis.”

“Holly, please stop that. I still can’t wrap my minds around what you did with Louis. God! It’s unbelievable.”

“No, you’re the one who needs to stop doing that. I am a healthy female and Louis is really HOT.” Holly was being annoying and trying to make me blush again.

“I know that, princess but I can’t help feeling really guilty about it. I felt that it was my fault.”

“Don’t do this to yourself, sunshine. It was not anyone’s fault. I was my choice.” She took my hand in hers and held it tightly.

Suddenly, camera started flashing around us.

“The paps! We better go.” I stood up and pulled Holly up from her seat. She stood up gingerly and I put my arm around her waist.

“I’m going back to my hotel, Zayn. I have another book signing tomorrow.”

“I’ll send you back.” I said flatly.

“No, sunshine. Just get me a taxi and I’ll be fine. While you... you need to go back and have a good night rest. You must be tired.” She cupped my cheek and kissed the other one.

“But...” I started to protest.

“Sunshine, I’ll be fine.” Seeing the stubborn look on her face, I relented.

I got her a taxi and we said good night. The paps were still there and the camera flashes were still going off. Luckily, it was not long before I got into a taxi and I headed straight to the hotel.

Reaching my room at half to midnight, I found Louis was still up watching the television. As I walked in, he looked at me warily.

“Are we cool, bro?”

I fixed a stare at him for a few second before exhaling loudly. “Yeah, we’re cool. Holly managed to convince me not to kill you... yet.”

“Yeah, okay. I could live with that.”

I grabbed a change of clothes and did my usual nightly ritual in the toilet. I came out, freshly scrubbed and ready for bed but sleeping was the farthest thing from my mind. I sat on my bed facing Louis and demanded, “Tell me your side of the story.”

Louis, who was sitting Indian style on his bed with both his elbows on his knees, leaned back against the head board, switched off the television he was watching, closed his eyes and inhaled slowly.

“I thought we’re going to skip that.”

“Not a chance, man.” I said shaking my head.

He opened his eyes and looked at me straight in the eyes and said, “Okay, what do you want to know?”

“Everything. From the beginning till the end and why do you feel you need to hide it from me?”

“Seriously?” Louis was incredulous. “Zayn, do you know how you act around her? You are like a guard dog. A guard dog ready to bite anyone who’s going to pet her.”

“That’s because she’s not for petting.”

Louis dismissed that with the flick of his hand. “You know what I mean.”

Zayn shrugged. “She deserved to be treated right.”

“You think I don’t know that? God! I was absolutely crazy about her. I would have done anything for her. But in the end, it wasn’t me who left.”

“What happened to you guys?”

“I’m not quite sure. I thought that everything was going fine. We were happy. And I really thought the feeling was mutual but...” Louis shrugged. “She proved me wrong.”

“That’s the curious thing about that. I have never heard of the guy she left you for.” I saw Louis winced over the last part of my sentence. “But come to think of it, I didn’t even know about you and Holly.”

“I have to apologise for that. We meant to tell you but... obviously we didn’t get the chance to do so because she already left.”

“Were you in love with her?”

“In love? Zayn, I worshipped the ground that girl walked on. I would have given her everything. She said she cared for me and I thought she really did too. I never knew she had somebody else.”

Hurt was splashed all over Louis’ face. I did not know what to say because that did not sound like Holly at all. She did tell me that she loved Louis. So, what went wrong? They were in love and suddenly she left with some other guy. There was more to the story than she was telling me.

“Did you have a fight?” I asked curiously.

“I don’t think so. Like I said, everything was going fine. Before she just up and left, we met a couple of times. She did not say anything. She was a bit distracted but she was her usual cheerful loving self.” Louis replied thoughtfully.

“Did you know, you were her first?” I asked him candidly. The reddish tint spread across his face and he could not meet my inquiring eyes. Louis Tomlinson was embarrassed!

“Um... yeah.” Louis was still avoiding my gaze.

“You were gentle with her?” He had better be or I’ll wring his neck.

“Heck! What kind of question is that?” Louis was incredulous.

“A reasonable one.”

Louis shook his head disbelievingly. “Don’t worry I knew what I was doing. I made sure she enj... Jeez, why am I talking about this to you?”

“Because Holly is not any random girl.” I stated flatly.

“You are three years too late, mate.” Louis was pointing out the obvious.

“I know. And who’s fault is that?” He held both his hands up to signal that he accepted the blame I was heaping on his head.

Louis suddenly leaned forward and looked me straight in the eyes. “Did you find out about the guy she left with?”

“She told me that she was still with him but they no longer live under one roof. As a matter of fact, the guy is here in New York.” I said remembering the conversation I had with Holly.

Louis chewed on his lower lip thinking deeply. I made up my mind that I was going to find out about this mysterious guy. I would meet him. Face to face. Soon.

Second Chance - Chapter 9

THE FIRST TIME

HOLLY...

I first met Louis during the first performance of the boys on X-Factor. Zayn and the boys did not get through as solo artists but after boot camp they were put together as a band.

I still remember the first time I saw him. They have just arrived for that night show and I had been waiting for Zayn. They walked in and were joking around. It was if they had known each other for years.

I had not seen Zayn for a few weeks and I really missed him. I waved vigorously to attract his attention. When he saw me, he waved back and ran to give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

“Oh, princess. It’s so good to see you. I missed you a lot.” He grinned happily. “Come, let me introduce you to the lads.”

He put his arms around my shoulder and we approached his band mates. All four of them were staring at me but the boy with amazingly mesmerising blue eyes and incredibly beautiful smile caught my attention.

“Lads, this is Holly.” Zayn introduced me. He put his arm around my waist and as he was standing behind me, he pulled me back so my back was to his front. “Holly, this blond Irish here is Niall, the tallest one is Liam, curly is Harry and that’s Louis.”

“Hi. It’s nice to finally meet you guys.”

“It’s nice to meet you to.” Curly Harry said and echoed by the others. Harry curls were really adorable.

“Your girlfriend Zayn?” Louis asked.

“Holly’s my princess.” Zayn and his cryptic answers. I smiled because I knew what he was doing. He is being over-protective. Again. He didn’t say directly that we were only friends because other guys usually took that as a sign to hit on me. But he also did not put it out that I was his girlfriend. It kept boys guessing in the past.

Zayn and I were so comfortable around each other. There were lots of hugging, kissing and cuddling together but there was nothing sexual about it.

“Huh. What does that mean? Your princess?” Louis was puzzled.

Zayn put his cheek next to mine and said, “Take it anyway you want, bro. She’s my princess because she’s precious.”

I had to twist my neck around to look up at Zayn. I reached out to touch his cheek. “What a charming thing to say. Thank you, sunshine.”

He grinned. “Because it’s true.”

I looked at Louis and found he was staring at Zayn kissing my temple. He looked quite serious. The six of us chatted for a few minutes. I found myself kept glancing at Louis secretly and Louis was doing exactly the same. When our eyes met, I smiled at him shyly.

“We got to go, boys.” Liam reminded them.

Zayn let go of me and said, “I’ll see you later, princess.”

I nodded. “Okay, and good luck guys. Break a leg. Bye.”

Their performance that night was the song Viva la Vida, and it was smashing. They really sounded very, very good. I love Zayn’s voice but I couldn’t keep my eyes away from Louis.

Zayn went to fetch me from my seat after their performance had ended. I squealed with excitement when we reached backstage. “Oh my gosh. You guys are brilliant. You’re smashing it. I absolutely love your performance.”

“Thanks, babe.” Harry, as the rest of the boys, was still buzzing from their performance. “We did it!”

We were in celebratory mood that night but we could not stay out late because the boys had to start early the next day. Louis managed to find me alone to ask the question that was on everybody’s mind.

“Hi, there.” Oh, God! He’s talking to me. “Just curious, you and Zayn...”

“Me and Zayn?” I prompted.

“Is Zayn your boyfriend?” Louis said flatly.

I chuckled at the question which had been asked numerous times by numerous people previously. “No. Zayn and I are just friend. He’s like a big brother to me.”

His smile got wider. “Okay.”

I raised my brows at him in question. He just shook his head and took my hands in his.

“Come on. Let’s join them.”

Since then I was their regular supporter. I came for every show. Louis and I got closer and closer. I also befriended Harry’s friend, Jenna. Sometimes, she came on her own and sometimes she came with her boyfriend. The boyfriend changed every couple of weeks but she was consistent that all of them are much older than her. Much older than any of us. But Jenna was sweet, fun, outgoing and a good friend. Once I got to know her, I really liked her.

Louis and I were waiting for the others outside a shop, during a shopping expedition for food with the boys, when Louis gave me an unexpected sweet first kiss which made me quite weak in the knee. However, it ended before I could fully enjoy it.

A kiss from Louis Tomlinson! My heart was beating so hard that I could hear every heartbeat. I licked my lips. “What was that for?” I asked curiously.

He shrugged casually. “Because I like you.” I could hear the smile in his voice.

I looked into his beautiful eyes and smiled like a Cheshire Cat. I slipped my hand at the back of his head to pull him down for another kiss. This time much, much longer and deeper kiss. When we pulled apart, both of us were quite breathless.

“And that’s because I like you too.” I whispered.

That kiss was just the beginning of a lot more stolen kisses, secret caresses and meaningful glances when no one was looking. Every time we were apart, I began counting the days, hours until I could see him again.

Our first time together was not planned at all. The lads had just finished practicing for their performance that night. Louis and I had promised to meet up. However, the other boys also had plan on going out so to avoid meeting them, I suggested we went to my hotel room which was nearby.

We chatted about the lads, about the coming performance, about us and what we are going to do after the X-Factor ended while cuddling on the bed.

“Will I see you again?”

“Why wouldn’t you? Whether we win or not, I’m sure the band is going to stay together.” Louis said confidently. “I’ll always be here for you, babe.”

I looked up at him smiling and wanting to say thank you, I pulled his head nearer for a kiss. What started as a thank you kiss turned into something very, very hot and passionate. Not long, we were all over each other.

“Louis.” I said breathlessly after we had to come up for breath Louis was on top of me and propped on his elbow. “We... we should go slow.”

“Yeah, we should.” He whispered but continued raining kisses down the side of my neck. I shivered in pleasure.

“Do you think we should stop?” The last word came out as a sigh. I swallowed hard. He had reached my jaw and now trailing little kisses down my throat.

“I don’t know.” He said against my skin. He started licking the skin on the base of my throat. I threw my head back, eyes closed in pleasure. Coherent thoughts no longer possible. “Do you want me to?”

“Hmm? Want to...” I was no longer able to put logical thoughts together. How could I think when Louis was kissing and touching me like this. I could feel his hands under my blouse, his thumb stroking the side of my ribcage. “Do I want what?”

His lips found mine again. He bit my lower lip lightly and licked it. He pulled away slightly, breathlessly whispered against my lips. “Do you want me to stop, Holly?”

I swallowed hard. “Louis...”

“Tell me what you want, love. If you want me to stop I will. It is up to you.”

I looked up into his eyes and realised how much I loved him. Somehow in a short period of time he had became my reason for living every day. He had become the reason why I look forward to another day. He had become my life, my heart and my soul. If I wanted it to go all the way, it might as well be with Louis.

“Holly?” He stared at me questioningly.

I smiled tremulously at him. “No.”

“No?”

“No. Don’t stop.”

“Are you sure, love?”

“I’m sure.” I smiled assuring him. “I love you, Louis.”

“I love you too, babe. You don’t know how much.” He began kissing me again.

When he sang The Way You Look Tonight with the boys that night, after spending a very passionate afternoon together, I could feel he was singing every word to me. I have never felt so alive before.

I went to meet the lads when the performance ended. I blushed a little when I met Louis’ eyes, remembering how we spent that afternoon. It was difficult to find the opportunity to be together but before they went back that night, Louis managed to give me a quick kiss and mouthed ‘I love you’ to me. I was the happiest girl alive!

Second Chance - Chapter 8

KISS AND MAKE UP

ZAYN...

Louis may be one of my best mates but I could cheerfully kill him. Just minutes before the night show going to kick off, I saw Vicky walked in through the back entrance. Oh, no! Not good. I had just left Louis and Holly in the dressing room. I was hoping they would kiss and make up. Well, not literally kiss, but... you know what I meant, forgive and be friends again.

I have nothing against Vicky, but there is something off about her. I could feel that there was something but I just could not put my finger on exactly what it was. Louis started dating her a few months ago. I didn’t think he was really serious but Vicky considered herself Louis’ exclusive girlfriend. Well, let Louis sort it out himself. I was not going to interfere in anyone’s love life. Well, except Holly’s and my sisters’.

One thing funny about Louis was he got all grumpy and serious around Holly.  His moodiness was even worse than mine on my bad day. Probably moodiness was contagious because Harry has also been bad tempered lately. He did not talk much or play pranks on people. You do not want to be around him when he was being grouchy. A bad tempered Harry Styles was really very scary.

Jenna, one of Harry’s close friends, arrived a few days ago with her new boyfriend. It seemed that Harry did not like the chap, and told Jenna about his acute dislike of him. They had an argument, a loud one, about the boyfriend. Not that I could blame Harry. The guy was obnoxious. I could not understand how Jenna could date him.

After the incident at the club, I tried to talk to Holly but when I came back she was already fast asleep. She was sleeping on her right side with her right hand tucked under the pillow. Both her small feet were peeping from underneath the thick white duvet. She hated covering her feet with anything when she slept, even when it got really cold. I used to wake up in the middle of the night to pull the duvet over her feet, when she spent the night at my house which was quite often.

Her parents used to fight quite a lot and she got caught up in the middle. She used to have nightmares and suicidal thoughts when I met her. I tried to help her anyway I can. I invited her to my house so that she could feel how a real family should be like. Bit by bit, her suicidal thoughts became less frequent and I am glad for her. Holly deserved better.

She was sleeping so peacefully. I smiled recalling the good times we used to have when we were kids. I bent over, kissed her temple and pulled the duvet over her cold feet. She stirred but did not wake up.

I sat on the other bed watching her sleep. I had to find out what had happened to her and Louis. And how far had their relationship gone. I could hazard a guess by now that they had feelings for each other... were they really in love or was it just a fling? And had Louis.... you know, had sex with her? If he had slept with her, well, I still had not decided how I felt about that. All I know was Holly was like a sister to me and... no one mess with my sister. No one. Not even my best mates. Especially not my best mates!

Tonight Louis made her cry. When I walk in on them, Louis had his arms around her. Did they kiss? Probably. The sexual tension between them was tangible. You could cut it with a knife. Hearing Vicky’s voice must have surprised Louis because he let go of Holly. Unfortunately, Holly was not standing upright and in her position the only way to go when Louis let go of her was... down! She landed right down on her backside.

I was quite funny, actually. If I was not appalled at the same time, I would have laughed my head off. She sat there motionless, even when Vicky started kissing Louis. Louis wasn’t even participating in the kiss. He had his eyes trained on Holly the whole time. The superficial Vicky did not even acknowledge the existence of the girl at Louis’ feet.

I frowned and stepped forward to pick Holly up from the floor. I bent down and whispered in her ears, “Are you all right, princess?”

She stood up, turned to towards me and buried her face in my chest. When I felt the wetness on my shirt, I knew she was crying.

She whispered, “Get me out of here, please.” And I did. I glared at Louis over her head before walking out of the dressing room.

I took her to the toilet so she could wash her face and fixed her makeup. When she came out, she was looking much better.

“Are you okay?” I was worried about her and I would have to go on stage soon.

“I’m okay. Don’t worry about it. I wasn’t hurt. Well, the only thing that got hurt was my dignity.” She smiled to assure me. Somebody was calling me to get ready to be on stage. “You go ahead, sunshine. I’ll be fine. We’ll talk after the show, okay?”

I stared at her. “Okay. I love you.”

“I love you, too.” She hugged me. “Don’t be angry at Louis. It’s not his fault.”

I did not say anything. I just raised my eyebrows at her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

During the show I tried so very hard not to punch Louis in the face. I restrained myself, however, when he sent an apologetic look my way and said, “Talk to you later, bro.”

I pushed the incident away from my mind. I needed to concentrate on giving my 100% for the fans who had come to watch us. It still amazed me after all this time, how dedicated and passionate our fans were. They had been so good to us and to appreciate that I needed to give them the best. Without their continuous support, we would not be where we are now.

I went in search for Holly after the show ended. I found her talking to Louis, shaking hands and laughing. What’s going on? She was in tears only hours ago and now she was laughing with the person who made her cry. Weird. Girls were just plain weird. It was really difficult to understand them.

“So, you two kissed and made up?” Both of them turned my way and Holly turned red in the face.

“Um... yeah.” Holly nodded. Her face was still beet red. I wonder why? And Louis could not meet my eyes. He was looking everywhere except at me and Holly. He scratched the back of his neck.

“You going back to the hotel?” Louis directed the question at me but he was looking at his feet.

“Nah, me and Holly are going to have something to eat first.” I needed to talk to Holly. This time I would not let her dodged my question. I would get to the bottom of this. I needed to know what happened.

Holly stared at me. The plan was news to her. Louis was still fidgeting.

“Okay. So, see you guys later, then.” Louis was still avoiding my eyes. I would need to talk to him later, to clear the air, so to speak.

After Louis left, I pulled Holly into my arms and kissed the top of her head. Her hair smelt nice; fruity and sweet. I would need to ask her what shampoo she’s using.

“You okay?” She nodded and we went outside hand in hand, found a taxi and headed for the nearest place where we can have some food, drink and privacy. We ordered some chicken sandwiches, fizzy pop for me and orange juice for her.

“Okay, spill it, princess.” She was going to tell me what was going on between her and Louis before the night is out.

“Spill what?” Dodging. Sidestepping.  Hedging. Eluding. Avoiding answering the question. She could write an entire book on the topic.

“Don’t give me that. C’mon, talk to me.” I insisted.

She gave a mighty sigh. “You are annoyingly persistent.” She made a face at me.

“And you are annoyingly evading the question again.” I gave her an exasperated look. I reached out to cup her cheek and my thumb caressed her cheek affectionately. My annoyance turned into concern. “Was it so bad that you could not talk about it?”

She chewed on her lower lips. “No, it’s not that.”

“Then, talk to me, princess.”

She shrugged. “Louis and I were in love back then.”
